about

Ross Wallace Chait (Idiopathic Records, Coward, Ducktails, Pilgrim, Walter) came to us with an album inspired by his experiences with organized religion and spirituality, meant to mimic the psycho-stimulation and ecstasy people often feel in places of worship, rather than as a critique of religious practice. To this end, we have two long form pieces that move through quasi-movements bringing together an enormous wealth of sonic material, with contributions by Jeph Jerman, Greg Gorlen (Black Thread), Greg Hartunian (Laughable Recordings) and Amy Egerton-Wiley as well as Chait’s prepared guitar, drums, electronics, and radio/found sound manipulations. The dark undertones combined with more uplifting counterpoints is palpable throughout. This perhaps is Chait’s working through of his own inner confusion over the duality of such experiences, seemingly at an hyper personal level, brought forth into the world for further examination. We’re extremely pleased to bring this unique work to your ears, minds, and hearts!
